Nano Zinc Oxide for Layers and Ruminants

ZnoNova Super Zinc

Most of our field data is in broilers, with a sow and piglet trial and a shrimp trial on file. Layers and ruminants are frequently asked about, and they raise genuinely different questions. This page says what we can support and what we cannot — because in animal nutrition the cost of a supplier over-claiming is measured in a whole production cycle.

Layer hens

The commercial question in layers is usually eggshell quality and persistency of lay across an increasingly long cycle. Zinc is a required trace mineral with a well-established role in the enzyme systems involved in shell formation, and zinc source and bioavailability are legitimate variables in a layer premix.

Ruminants

Ruminants introduce a complication that monogastrics do not: the rumen. A mineral fed to a cow is first exposed to a large, active fermentation environment, and both mineral solubility and interactions with other dietary components change what actually reaches absorption. Copper-zinc-sulphur-molybdenum antagonisms are a standard consideration in ruminant mineral nutrition and are not a footnote.

The material

FormFood-grade water-dispersible nano zinc oxide (5.3 nm) plus organic-zinc concentrate
CharacterNon-toxic, pH neutral
Third-party dataAntibacterial >99.9% (SGS) · ammonia deodorization 96% (Intertek)
Field data we holdBroilers · sows and piglets · white shrimp

Regulatory status as a feed additive differs by species and market, including maximum permitted zinc levels in complete feed. That assessment is yours; we supply documentation to support it.

Questions buyers ask

Do you have layer trial data?

No. Our field data is broilers, sows and piglets, and shrimp. We will support a controlled trial in your flock rather than present broiler data as if it answered a layer question.

Is it rumen-protected?

No, and nano particle size should not be read as implying that. Rumen protection is a separate property achieved by specific formulation approaches.

What about maximum zinc levels in feed?

Permitted levels in complete feed are set by market and species and have tightened in several jurisdictions. Your nutritionist and regulatory team should set the inclusion rate; we supply the material and its documentation.

Can it be used alongside our existing trace mineral premix?

That is a formulation question involving total zinc, antagonists and the rest of your premix. Bring it to your nutritionist with the specification in hand.
